Very excited to announce the launch of the Philadelphia playwrights producing collective Orbiter 3! We believe the next step in Philadelphia’s growth as a theater community lies in fostering new work by local artists, and that a playwrights producing collective is integral to that effort. With a burgeoning population of young playwrights committed to the city, Philadelphia is uniquely poised to become a hub for new plays. We created Orbiter 3 to advance that vision. Over the next three years Orbiter 3 will produce six new plays, one from each of the collective’s existing five writers as well as one from a writer we will welcome in 2016. In 2018, our collective will release our plays and documentation of our development and activities and transform into a resource for theatermakers. |

I’m incredibly excited to announce that my play Moon Cave has been added to this year’s PlayPenn conference. Director Kevin Glaccum and I will undergo a three-day workshop resulting in a reading at 8 pm on July 22nd. PlayPenn is an amazing organization that is dedicated to supporting new plays, I am overjoyed that this play will be developed there!
If you’re in Philly in late July please swing by! The reading is free and will take place at the Adrienne Theatre at 2030 Sansom St. Tons of exciting stuff to update!
First off, Andrew J. Carroll and I have co-written a brand new one man show for this year’s SoLow Fest. Solstice will be performed on this year’s summer solstice and then never again! Here’s a quick description of the play: “Eric Sparks doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to die this September. That means this coming summer solstice is his final chance to live the longest day of the year. On that day Mr. Sparks will be given the opportunity to see every summer solstice he has ever lived. Solstice, a one-man show written by Douglas Williams and Andrew J. Carroll, explores how we spend our days and what we ultimately hold onto.” Showtimes on Saturday the 21st are at 1:00, 3:00 and possibly 7:00 depending on the number of reservations we get! Email me at [email protected] or visit this website for details on reservations. Also! Head over here to read a recent interview I did with the awesome indie theatre website Phindie about Solstice and head over here to read an interview I did with Kanjy. Andrew Carroll and I are once again teaming up with playwright Chris Davis to bring you two down and dirty one-man shows for the price of one! Both Four’s the Floor and Chris’ show Violence of the Lambs were produced as a part of the 2013 SoLow Festival.
Violence of the Lambs & Four's the Floor Monday, February 24th @ 9:00PM Quig's Pub, 3rd Floor of Plays and Players Theatre (1714 Delancey) Azuka Theatre will be doing a reading of my play THE DEATH AND LIFE OF UNCLE GENE as a part of their 2014 Spotlight Series Festival. The reading will be held on Thursday, January 16th at 7PM at the Off-Broad Street Theatre (1636 Sansom Street). Here is a quick blurb about the play:
The McTammeny family has gathered to mourn the untimely and surprisingly sudden passing of everyone’s favorite uncle: Gene. As the ceremony is set to begin Larry and Albert, two outcast cousins, retreat from the funeral and come up with a plan to ease everyone’s pain while turning themselves into unlikely heroes. Head over to the website for more info on the festival and the other selected plays. Hope to see you there! Here is a quick roundup of some of the reviews / press Holly's Dead Soldiers (A Breakfast Play) has received over the past two weeks. We sold out our original run and have extended for three more performances on Sept. 22nd. Head here for tickets and more information on the show that caused Phindie to declare, "Alas! This stuff is priceless!"
