The film that some people have called the greatest documentary ever made is now waiting to get added to your instant Netflix queue. I watched it last night (the first time I've seen it all the way through) and have to say, it was pretty great.
The film follows two young men growing up in Chicago with dreams of playing basketball in the NBA. The kind of patience that goes into making a film that takes place over four years is something to admire. Especially when the filmmakers were able to capture two incredible subjects.
This film certainly doesn't need my endorsement, not after all the acclaim it's received since it's release in 1994, but I'm happy to give it anyway. You don't need to have an appreciation for basketball to enjoy. All you need an appreciation for people who live with a burning passion for something they are slowly realizing is outside their reach. That can be a hard thing to watch sometimes.
